Q: Can you get a Prescription from your vet to buy medications online?
I have an elderly Jack Russell who is incontinent and needs Propalin Syrup. She also suffers from flea allergic dermatitis and just one flea bite will cause her to flare up and start ripping her hair out! As we have an outdoor cat, (although we treat them both for fleas) its impossible to stop her picking up flea bites.

The medications she needs for these conditions (Propalin Syrup, Prednicare and Synulox) are fearly expensive at the Vets and as we are on a low income we are struggling to afford them. I’ve found a website called Pet Dispensary where they sell the same drugs at a lower cost but you must provide a prescription. Would a vet be willing to do this? Plus, once you’d paid for postage etc would it be any cheaper than buying them from the Vets?

A: By law, a vet has to give you a prescription if you ask for it rather than fill the medication at the practice. Some vets may charge a fee for writing the prescription though. Many times, after the S&H, your vet may be cheaper than the online pharmacy. Also, many vets will price match an online pharmacy price.

A: Be very careful with this. The manufactures of most of the products will not guarantee the products you buy from the online pharmacies. I know for a fact that Navartis and Meriel will not guarantee those products. You should be concerned about “dodgy” goods from these companies. If you do speak with a salesperson for one of these companies ask if they will pay for any side issues that arise from using the products they sell. Then get it in writing. If you buy from these companies you void the manufactures warranty.
Ask your vet if a local pharmacy will compound the insulin. Cats can sometimes go from insulin dependent to non if you change their diet to a canned food diet. I feed my diabetic cat Friskies canned food and he has not had insulin in almost 3 years. Purina makes a diet called DM and it comes in canned and dry. I am not a fan of dry foods b/c they have a lot of carbs and that is why our cats become diabetic. Please talk with your vet about diet change as well as insulin treatment.

Ok my family’s new cat has fleas, I have tried a few prescription strength and OTC flea medicines for our cats but the only one that has worked and continued to work is Revolution for Cats. I have a lady friend that works as a veterinary assistant and I asked her if I could bring in my cat to complete the charade so I can buy more Revolution legitimately now since the online pet drug site I used to just get it from shipped from overseas also requires a prescription for it just like all the RL pet pharmacies would. The problem is she says her place doesn’t have Revolution, but I can’t see why they can’t just look at the cat and write a prescription for Revolution anyway and leave the rest to me. Just because a certain place writes you a pet prescription does not require you to fill it with them, or is this some stubborn veterinary practice?!
I am not planning to make my friend’s employer write me a prescription for my cat sight unseen, I just figure once I pay for an exam or whatever the hell it is gets them to write me a prescription they should be indifferent to wherever it is I happen to fill this prescription at.

In the good old days before the feds cracked down on all those online pet pharmacies selling Rx medicines without a Rx I didn’t have to jump through this hoop. Now my friend is making it even more difficult by saying her place doesn’t even stock Revolution.
Advantage is a joke! I tried that before, paid nearly $150 for it OTC from a vet, just to have it kill the fleas off for 2 months only to have nothing but the super-fleas impervious to everything out there besides Revolution left bothering my cats.
Frontline is crap too! That stuff was weaker than Advantage was, I didn’t even think that was possible.
I think what the real problem is is that the vet where my friend works at is just greedy and wants me to buy whatever kind of chump flea medicine they do have in their pharmacy. I know what I am talking about here, I have used Revolution (purchased online from overseas in the good ol days) and all my cats used it just fine. I have tried all the other flea medicines under the sun on my cats and none of them work worth a crap except for Revolution.
Pretty Kitty: That is what I meant! So what if my friend’s place does not stock it. I don’t care, so long as they write me a Rx for it I can fill it wherever I want or feel like filling it.
Advantage stopped working after two months, I gave it to the cats as indicated on the box, but after the two month mark only the incorrigible super-fleas remained. We combed the cats and vacuumed the place throughout but still the super-fleas stuck around for more.
So in summary, either the place where my friend works is trying to be as self-serving as possible in that they only want to write Rx for things they stock or my friend is being a bitch? Either or both seems to be the real reason…

A: they can, you have a right to one, and if they refuse to give you one you are within your rights to report them to the local vetinary association..

however, they also the right to charge an “admin” charge for the privalage.. in britain admin charges are usually capped at £10 but it depends on the industry..

Q: Best cat litter that your cat likes and you can stand the smell of?
I bought the Tidy Cats Breeze System. It’s fabulous, easy to clean, doesn’t smell as terrible as other litter. I love it. My cats on the other hand…I had that one litter with my older cat and he was fine with it. I got my kitten and we were having problems with her using the litter box so we added another litter box to my apartment. The Breeze uses special pellet litter which I am sure they don’t like to dig in as much. They both only use the new one now and it’s disgusting. I have to get my boyfriend to clean because I vomit if I get anywhere near it. I would like to be able to take care of my cats. I am looking for litter that doesn’t smell as horrible and that my cats will actually like and use. My boyfriend just grabs the one at the drug store but I am willing to go the extra mile and even order online if I have to. Any ideas of litter your cat likes to use that doesn’t have a awful smell? Do I get another Breeze system and just have two? Help.

A: I use a brand called Feline Pine. It is not always as easy to find as traditional litters. The best place to look is a pet or feed store. Feline pine is made from natural pine sawdust. There are two different types. One is a pellet like kind, where the pine sawdust comes in pellets that break down gradually as the cat uses it. My cats didn’t probably like it at first, but it was all I would use and they got used to it. Recently Feline Pine has started making a “clumping” variety of litter, which basically looks just like a bunch of pine sawdust. But when kitty pees, it makes clumps that you can easily scoop out (the pellet style doesn’t do this). Because the clumping style is more fine instead of pellet style, my cats like it alot more, and it really does not smell at all!! The pine seems to naturally repel kitty box odors, as long as you clean the box daily. I’ve provided a link below if you want to check it out. It costs a bit more money than regular litter in the grocery store, but it’s totally worth it, in my opinion, and all natural, so it can be disposed of much easier than clay litter.

Q: Marijuana in My system? How to get it out?!?! PERSONAL EXPERIENCE PREFERRED?
I smoked for the first time in 2 months yesterday. I weigh about a 155lbs at 5foot8. I was wondering, how long it would be in my system for, I do work out, play basketball, and bicycle. GUY 1: Older british guy immigrated to my country 10 years ago (I’m 22 he’s 30). Really funny, really sweet. Have really good banter and chat online most nights. We like the same music and other similar interests such as obviously travel and he has said he wants to date me exclusively and take me away for the weekend. I’ve been putting him off though until I can decide. I am concerned I will not be sexually attracted to him. As although we have flirted alot and even talked dirty we never actually hooked up. His last serious relationship was a couple of years ago but it was for several years and he still is friends with her. Also he is not very financially sucessful for someone his age. Surfs, works as a laborer but not classically fit looking or handsome.

GUY 2: Very classically tall dark and handsome, met online and chatted for over 6 months now met up a few times and also chatted on skype and facebook. He is a talented artist in art school currently and a musician who records weird artsy ambient music which although I like indie I am not the biggest fan of. All of his interests though I find very interesting and sexy. He is also very sweet and deep and thoughtful. But has been slightly hot and cold. And is intimidating as I am not particularly talented at anything. Our families are friends so it was always very covert and we lived far apart so only saw him every summer growing up. we know each other very well and everything is very familiar and natural. A lot of vets don’t publicise this when you visit.You are entitled to take a prescription and buy the medication elsewhere.Our vet charges £20 to look at Bob the feline aids cat,then another £20 for his medication which is available online at £0.05p per tablet,much cheaper.But like a lot of vets “forgets” to mention your right to a prescription instead of them dispensing the drug at a greater cost.

A: of course they’re not going to mention it. some of those meds are their bread and butter when it comes to making money. vets lose money on certain other procedures (like spays) so have to make up the money somewhere else to offset the costs of running the clinic (like hiking up prices on vaccines or various meds).

vets here in the US can charge a fee at their discretion to write a script out for you if you are choosing to get it filled elsewhere. and if it’s something available at a human pharmacy for a significantly cheaper price, the drs at my clinic will often mention that and write out the script with no charge. to them, it’s more about the animal getting the necessary meds than anything else. (however, most people prefer the convenience of just getting it at the time rather than drive somewhere else for it anyway.) having said that, it really isn’t the vet’s job to tell you where his competition is, is it?. if you go to a grocer for produce, they wouldn’t tell you where else you can get that food instead for a lower cost, do they?

i think the vet should dispense the rx to the client for free if the animal has just been seen for the problem and the owner hasn’t walked out the door yet. but i can totally understand charging a fee if an owner calls up and asks for a script to be written out later – it takes time out of a clinic’s busy schedule to look up a client’s chart and examine it to determine if the request should be given, time that is now being taken from other clients.

Q: Ipod touch recovery mode help!!!?
Ok so i have no idea what happened but my ipod started going CRAZY ( it kept flashing and taking pictures and freezing and stuff) . I have a 3rd generation ipod touch 8g by the way. Anyways so i read some information online and it said that if your ipod shows the itunes logo with the USB its in recovery mode. well my ipod is exactly that. The only problem is i cat turn it on or press the home button without it taking ten pictures and sending it to my saved photos. I hear that once in recovery mode the only thing you can do is restore it. Thats fine by me im all good for the whole starting a new ipod again thing. I dont have my ipod backed up so can i back it up/sync it when its in recovery mode???? I cannot lose the recently bought tv season i got and its not transfered to itunes yet. I now that you can go to itunes and it will say purchased and show what you’ve bought but i dont now if i can transfer anything to itunes with my ipod in recovery mode.

A: open Itunes and check to make sure you have a back up of your touch. if you have the backup setting enabled it should make backups everytime you dock your touch.
work from there if you do, you should be able to do a complete restore.

I would before I do anything make sure Itunes is up to date, and you check apps for updates as well, and then do the restore.

Ive restored my IPhone a couple of times, its abit scarry during the process, but its good to know everything still works after the restore.

Secondly, I agree with Cassidy. If you really loved them, you would have chosen by now instead of asking strangers.

I personally think you should choose who you are most comfortable with. Not who has more money, has the best looks, ect. That just makes you shallow. Follow your heart( sorry for sounding cheesy) and make the decision you think is best. Good luck.
