Q: A drug dog smells drugs in a car and nobody is in it. Can a police officer get a search warrant?
I know a police officer can take a drug dog down a apartment building hallway to search it because its public property. If the dog smells drugs in a room the police officer can get a search warrant and search it for drugs. But. What if the police officer is walking down the street and the drug dog smells some drugs in a car and nobody is in it. Can the police get a search warrant to search the car?
A: He doesn’t need a warrant if it’s a car. He can just go ahead an tear it up.
Q: How many feet away can a drug dog smell drugs?
Do they have to be inches from it or can them smell them through a door in which the drugs could be 10 feet away?
I work in storage and was wondering if a dog was brought in how many tenants I would lose. lol.
A: I don’t think that there is an actual answer for this. Some dogs smell better trhan others and drug sniffing dogs dogs have trained since they were pups.
Smell is a dog’s most powerful sense. Dogs are so good at picking up scents that they can detect tobacco wrapped in 27 layers of polythene, or locate termites demolishing the foundations of a house.
Their sense of smell is up to a million times more sensitive than that of human’s, and they can detect scents we don’t even know exist!
They can also identify the faintest of smells, even when these odors are heavily masked by other scents. A dog’s sense of smell is often more powerful than the best scientific instruments. It’s no surprise that dogs have been used to detect drugs, gas leaks and explosives, as well as to find people lost in the wilderness or buried in avalanches.
Dogs can smell things we can’t because they have more nasal membrane in their sinuses than we do.

Q: is it possible to hide drugs from a drug dog?
i was wondering if it was possible to hide weed from a drug dog or will they always be able to smell it?
by maybe putting it under water, or in an airtight jar.
A: Coffee is the best way to hide the smell but if the sent is at all exposed a dog will hit on it.
Q: Can drugs dog smell out Aderall or ADHD medicine?
i no a dog is trained to smell out illegal substances. Is aderall a drug they typically train for? For instence, if i had a few pills at school on me would a typical drug dog detect it?
A: no lol, at least i really dont think so. but ALWAYS keep them on you. never the locker. and even if thats still too sketch, take out the battery on your phone and put them inside there. hope it works out
Q: How can I tell if my dog is on drugs?
I think my dog might be high on marijuana. He randomly leaves the house throughout the day not telling me where he is going and when he returns he is slow to respond and goes straight to his room. Please help I am worried this might lead to harder drugs and/or gang activity.
A: LOl. he must have got them from you..
Get him a drug test
ask him if he’s selling his body for money
search his computer for porn and ground him.
Take charge. The last thing you need is a crack head dog
Q: Just out of curiosity… up to how long can a drug dog still smell drugs such as marijuana?
I know drug dogs can smell areas where drugs such as cocaine were at up to two weeks after it has been removed? is this true with other substances as well?
A: I think so…they are very trained for this and marijuana has a very stronger smell than cocaine
Q: is there a way to smuggle drugs but make it drug sniffing dog proof?
Altho I do not use or sell drugs, I always see the drug sniffing dogs in airports and at times, on the streets with cops. Is there a way to make it so dogs cannot smell them, like something to wrap them in, or a chemical?
A: Think about it. If there WERE such a way, then drug-sniffing K-9’s would be completely useless, now, wouldn’t they? What would be the point of spending so much money on training them, maintaining them, trying to use them, if it were all futile?
I watched a movie that claimed coffee beans masked the drugs so dogs couldn’t detect it. Don’t you believe it. It’s Hollywood, for crying out loud! I also saw a commercial where they put raw meat in some airtight plastic bag and a tiger wasn’t even interested because it was SO airtight that he couldn’t smell it. Don’t you believe it. I can guarantee you that it was a very docile and well-fed tiger and he really just wasn’t interested, say what they want.
For dogs, smells are a world all of its own. It’s like a language to them. With subtleties of expression that only poets could comprehend, if they could smell instead of speak. Where humans have maybe something like 100 odor receptors, dogs have like 10,000. Dogs may blow a detection on some days, but it’s due to having an off-day, not because the drugrunners were especially clever.
Someone mentioned something about pepper, but while pepper would be an irritant to a dog, it still won’t mask the drugs. The amount of pepper needed to completely throw off a dog would be enough to make a human’s eyes water, which would raise suspicion right there. Especially if the box was labeled Tractor Parts.
Q: can drug dog detect drugs swallowed by human?
someone i know is planning to swallow condom full of hashish and try to cross the border.
can drug dogs detect or smell the hashish in condom swallowed inside of your intestine?
A: First off never swallow condoms with drugs in it, they could break. Sure hash wouldnt kill ya but imagine if that was full of xtc or something. Second, if there is residue on the person’s finger or something they could pick it up. I heard a story once that this guy was driving after smoking a doob and having an once on him and a k9 unit pulled next to him at a redlight and the dog started going nuts, then the cop pulled him over and busted him.
But to answer your question a dog probably couldnt smell it if seal by a condom and then sealed by your intestines. But the residue it could smell.
Q: Is it unconstitutional for the police to use a drug dog to smell for drugs without consent/warrant?
Even if they use the dog to just smell the outside of the car, to get enough probable cause to search the inside of the vehicle?
A: Nope…if you have no expectation of privacy (which you don’t on the outside of your car in a place where the public has access) then the K9 can sniff outside the car. If he smells something, the police can get a warrant to search the inside.
Q: I left my appartment because my roomate brought a dog and illegal drugs in, can i get out of the lease?
We got a new landloard recently who assumed the previous lease, however i was under the impression that he would need to draw a new one with his name? Is this true or no? Also is the dog (not allowed on the lease) and the drugs enough to break the lease? I have 4 months rent left on the property according to the old lease.
A: Send the new landlord a letter stating that since your suitemate is involved in illegal activities, and the landlord has done nothing about it, you consider the lease void. Have a copy of the letter registered at the local Recorder’s Office.
Q: Westminster and other Dog Shows:For Westminster ,are dogs given drugs to postpone their coming into heat?
Also, how do trainers keep their dogs’ sexual natures from coming into play at dog shows? With regards to number of entrants, are Westminster and other dog shows usually dominated by female or male dogs?
A: Some breeders may use these drugs.. but in general, no, they do not. These drugs have dangerous side effects and have been known to render a bitch sterile. Ussually, shows are planned around heat cycles.
In general, its preferred to show males.. you dont have to plan around a heat cycle.. and its also easier to keep a male in a show coat. Heat cycles cause changes to the coat, so its harder to maintain a show coat in a female.
The owners and handlers use a LOT of training to control these dogs.. show dogs must be handled and socialized often from a young age so they are accustomed to it.
Q: I want to teach my dog to sniff out drugs?
I was watching “Still Standing” the other night and they brought a drug sniffing dog to their doctors house to find a teddy bear and he wound up finding their doctors pot stash…lol…How could I teach my dog to sniff out pot?
A: Give me a good reason and I will be happy to tell you how it is done since I do it every day. Whatever you do, DO NOT LISTEN to the second answer you have. That person has serious issues and one of the reasons people post dangerous advice is him.
Q: How far away can a sniffer dog smell drugs?
My friend reckons they can’t smell drugs in you hair…like if you braid it around or put them in your dreads.
He’s clearly an idiot right? LOL
A: They can smell it. However police are not allowed to use the dog to search people at least not in the US, they have to do that themselves.
Q: Do drug-sniffing dog trainers really deliberately addict the dogs to drugs?
I just saw something that said that’s how the dogs find them. If so, that’s horrible!
A: The best drug-dog candidates are the ones who are “object obsessed”… of course the dog has to know what they are looking for.. so to train, an object (the thing the dog loves & wants) will be “tainted” with the targeted drug & the dog rewarded when he finds or chooses the tainted object
I have known alot of K-9s & several K-9 trainers… In NONE of those cases did the dogs have any exposure to the drugs other than to locate… NONE of them had been given drugs & NONE of these trainers would consider it ethical or moral to train by using the drugs on the dogs
Q: What r the signs a dog has found drugs?
What r the signs a dog has NOT found drugs?
A: He says, “Bow-wow, Man…bow-wow”.
He wants to go to the 7-11 for a Slurpy.
